12 vintage metal seals, from Stanley Mfg. Co. Gold-tone metal, round initial “D” or “G” I thought it was a “D” until I turned it upside down. Might be a “G”From the 1910’s or 1920’s ~ Real embossed metal. These are not foil or paper. ~ Due to their age, spots have formed on the metal. ~ They appear to be unused. ~ Whether you save them in their original condition for your collection of vintage items or decide to up-cycle/repaint them, I think they are lovely seals with detailed embossing. Great item for scrapbook projects, altered art, collage or handmade greeting cards. They could be embedded into candles, too. The last 3 photos show you some of my repainted ones and how I used them. (Not to be confused with Stanley Tools.) After that time, some of their old stock was used to decorate paper greeting cards. They made embossed metal labels for perfume bottles and decorations for vanity items, like women’s powder compacts. They made metal seals for many holidays and events including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, birthdays, party favors, Mother’s Day and new babies. They had several different alphabets for monogramming personal items. They made some items that appear to be special orders, including name/address labels for doctors, Masonic symbols and college seals. Dr. Stanley (he was an ophthalmologist) had several patents for the manufacturing process of these metal seals.
