Authored and illustrated by Ernest Thompson Seton, FIRST IMPRESSION PUBLISHED OCT 3 1904 (stated) by Charles Scribner’s Sons. Overall in VERY GOOD CONDITION, but with issues to note. Clean blue cloth boards with bright gilt titling front board and lightly rubbed but very clear spine gilt titling, a small scratch on the bear illustration front board. Boards have moderate corner and top/bottom spine, light bumped corners, light board edge wear. Clean blue original endpapers, no endpaper cracking. The book overall is solidly bound, but there is cracking at the title page, and there are a few plates in the book which are slightly detached from their glue-attachment at the spine. One page with damaged corner and another page with a small tear – these are shown in listing photos. MANY PAGES UNOPENED THROUGHOUT. Clean pages, no previous owner markings, a few creases and a dog ear or two seen (long ago straightened out). So a NICE COPY OF A CHARMING BOOK BY AN IMPORTANT NATURE WRITER AND ILLUSTRATOR, AND AN IMPORTANT EARLY PROPONENT OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, ERNEST THOMPSON SETON.
