Jalen Alexander Hurts[1] (born August 7, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played his first three seasons of college football at the University of Alabama, where he made two consecutive College Football National Championship appearances and was a member of the team that won the 2018 title. Hurts used his final year of eligibility at the University of Oklahoma. Selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts became their starter near the end of his rookie season. In the National Football League, the team captain designation is a team-appointed position that designates certain players as leaders on and off the field. As a result of the argument, Holmes was benched for the remainder of the game, and the Jets ended up losing the game, which resulted in the Jets missing the postseason for the first time in 3 years. His leadership qualities and credibility as a captain have since been questioned.
