Recent find from a prominent North Carolina estate. Offering a beautiful set of seven, 8 3/8″ salad-sized plates by W.T. Copeland in a polychome Victorian Imari pattern. Each plate has the embossed crescent “Copeland” mark on the underside which dates these plates between 1850 and 1867. Overall for their age, excellent condition. These plates do some some very light and exceptional aging spots, but not significant. One plate does have a shallow rim chip on the top side of the plate (see last photo). Some very tiny scuffs, but again, very insignificant. Otherwise, no additional chips, cracks, excessive wear and no noticeable crazing. Some gold loss near the edge; however, the gold embellishments in the pattern are strong. This set displays amazingly well; the glaze has a nice sheen and the colors are vibrant without pattern loss.
