Bavaria Tirschenreuth Centerpiece Bowl HandPainted Grapes Flowers 1903-1927 Gold Exquisite Decorative 9 1/4″ SCALLOPED RIM CENTERPIECE BOWL from Bavaria Tirschenreuth Porcelain Factory, Hand Painted by Guillaumy Grapes & Flowers w/Green Leaves, GOLD Border on Rim, circa 1903-1927 DESCRIPTION: This centerpiece bowl was hand painted by a talented artist, Guillaumy, using the green, purple, white and red color palette on the white porcelain. The purple, green and white grapes are nestled in the green leaves, some of which fade into the background to give depth to the painting. The trim on the scalloped rim is solid gold fading to stippled gold. This centerpiece bowl is absolutely beautiful, so bright and cheerful! It has the cutest little 12 feet encircling the bottom rim. CONDITION: While this bowl is classified as used, the condition is superb with only one tiny paint nick on the gold rim. This is smooth to touch, see photo #9. There are no chips, other nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. See the photos to judge the beauty and condition for yourself. DIMENSIONS: The centerpiece bowl is 9 1/4″ with a height of 2 7/8″. HISTORY/MARKS: Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1814 in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria and his son, Lorenz Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1857 in Selb, Bavaria. This latter company acquired P.T. Porcelain Factory in 1927 and then in 1969 was merged with the former company and continued operation as Hutschenreuther AG (Selb, Bavaria) until 1994 when the Tirschenreuth factory was closed due to bankruptcy. This bowl has the green underglaze “P.T.” mark on it. The P. T. Bavaria (Porcelain Factory Tirschenreuth founded 1838 in Tirshenreuth, Bavaria. The mark on this is mark #755 from Robert E. Rontgen’s Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain which was used 1903-1927. After Hutschenreuther purchased the pottery in 1927, the mark was modified. This also has the green “Handpainted Bavarian Porcelain” mark on the back. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
