I AM NOT SELLING A KIT, only a new, full-size copy of my original PLAN for a Berkeley SINBAD 40 towline glider kit + all parts patterns for you to build your own model of this Old Time Towline Glider. The model has a 40″ wing span—thus the name SINBAD 40. The PLAN shows a drop-away, sub-rudder that was to be used to keep the model tracking in a straight line while towing the model to altitude. Pop’s Old Timer Tip: “I can assure you from personal experience as a boy running through a pasture towing my SINBAD up that this drop-away sub rudder works!!! Without such an assembly, all towline gliders of the 1940s veered off to the right or to the left. So straight-away tows were impossible and you did not get much altitude on a tow. I used this drop-away rudder idea and I recommend it to you.” As a BONUS I include a copy of Frank Zaic’s vintage article on flying towline gliders successfully + some other great TLG write-ups. I have enlarged this PLAN & patterns by 150% to a 60″ span and list it separately as the SINBAD 60 (See pic 7). I have also successfully taken it to 93” for several customers. I print all of my plans in-house so feel free to ask about custom work. I also offer separately a full-size copy of the SUPER SINBAD PLAN + PARTS PATTERNS. See picture # 8.
