The middle ball moves but ball will not move when the barbell is in the piercing. The barbell length is only 10mm with all 3balls and if you move the bottom ball then the length will be 18mm so used it with two ball on the bottom, You can insert it either way but the best way to do it from the bottom to top so you only screw the top ball otherwise if you insert from the top the first you have to insert the 8mm and hold it and then screw the 10mm ball.Sterilized Surgical Steel 14g 10mm Length VCH barbell with top 6mm and bottom 8 and 10mm balls.
