A most charming 16 1/2 inch tall teddy bear made by the Michigan Teddy Bear artist Janet Reeves (1933-2021). He has a wonderful slightly sad look as he holds his fishing pool which has a small wooden fish at the end of the wire fishing line. His eyes are glass. His fur is very soft brown mohair. He was made for adult collectors and not as a plaything for children. His name as shown on the hang tag is Beorn. He is jointed at the arms, legs and neck. He is adorned with fabric and wire leaves front and back. His fishing pole is made of thin wood segments and wire and has a small wooden reel. It is held to his wrist with a string which can be slipped off his arm so that he can fit in a box for shipping without damaging his pole. He has his paper hang tag which has his name as well as his maker’s name. He also has a cloth Janet Reeves tush tag. On the paper hang tag the filling of his pot belly is stated as fiberfill and pellet. One detail I noticed about how this bear was made is the way that she did his eyes. At the top edges of both eyes the mohair cloth covers a bit of the edge which gives him a somewhat sad and sweet look. I really like the way she did that. He is in wonderful condition. I can find no problems with this bear. He weighs 1 pound 10.2 ounces. The inventory number for this listing is 11,351.
