Description: (Includes the photos) For Sale: A set of four antique salad plates with a multicolored floral design on a pale cream base. Manufactured by W.T. Copeland and Sons, England. Each piece is marked as “Late Spode”, has a pattern number of 2-6915 and a date of1918. Dimensions (each): 7 ½” (diameter at top rim), 4 ½” (diameter at bottom rim), 7/8” (height), 8.5 oz. (weight). These attractive plates have raised and hand-painted floral designs on the rim and floral transfers in the centers. The edges are slightly scalloped. The center floral decorations are each harmoniously different in composition and the hand painted decorations on the rim have minor variations in color choice from within the shared palette. Identifying Marks (on each plate): “COPELAND late SPODE ENGLAND” (as a logo), “2 6915 ” (pattern number, handwritten), “N18” (date stamp, impressed – November 1918), “” (impressed – unreadable through the glazing. Looks like a couple of lines of text – one possibly being “SPODE”). Condition: All are used with normal moderate wear. They have utensil marks and scratches, best seen under reflected light. There are a couple of very small and non-obvious rim chips and scattered minor manufacturing defects. The overall appearance remains pleasing and these plates would fit gracefully into a set of working fine china. Thanks for considering this item.
