The D-18E was an unpopular model that did not sell at all in 1959, and production was discontinued early, but it became famous after Kurt Cobain used it in an unplugged performance, and the 1959 D-18E he owned was sold for hundreds of millions of yen, making it the most expensive guitar in the world. In 1951, Gibson released the flat-top guitar [CF-100E] equipped with a magnetic pickup P-90, which is also known as the origin of electric acoustic guitars, and Martin released three electric models, the D-28E, D-18E, and 00-18E, around 1959.
