MEISSEN – BLUE ONION – Antique 3 Cups and 1 Saucer Plus Smaller Cup

Johann Friedrich Ernst Teichert was a brother of Carl Teichert. Ernst worked for Carl as a plant leader in his factory. He became independent in 1869 establishing a stove tile factory in Cölln near Meissen.  In 1884 Ernst founded a porcelain factory in Cölln. He died just two years later. The factory was overtaken by his son, Christian Teichert who decided to transform the firm into a stove files producer.  In 1901 the factory was transformed into a limited company Ernst Teichert GmbH.  In 1930 three companies Carl Teichert Meissen, Ernst Teichert GmbH and the Meissner Wandplattenwerke Saxonia GmbH formed Teichertwerke Meissen group.

So this was the back story to the origin of this company.  The crossed swords you see on most Messien china is newer than the single sword.  The single sword mark is the mark of Ernst Teichert and I’ve added a photo of his mark above.  

That being said, I’m selling in this lot 3 tea cups (2 3/8″H x 4 1/4″W x 3 1/2″D), one saucer (4 1/16 Diameter x 1″H), and one very small little cup (1 7/8″H x 3 3/16″W x 2.5″D) of the matching Blue Onion pattern.  These are all in excellent condition.  On the inside of one of the cups there is one tiny spot (about the size of a pin head) where there is an indention but I think it’s inherent in the piece.  I’ll include a photo.  It’s really not a big deal.  There is also a small brown spot on the inside of another cup but again, I think it was made that way.  Other than that, there are no cracks, chips, or crazing on any of these pieces.  

This fine vintage item is offered with a fair and reasonable fixed price. My photos detail this item to justify the asking price.
