This poster visualizes the main liveries worn by the SOFA 747SP during it’s long life from being delivered to Pan Am in 1977 to being retired by NASA in early 2023. Along with the images is a brief description of each stage of SOFIA’s life prior to becoming NASA’s famed airborne telescope platform. The aircraft flew in that role for almost 2 decades, based out of the California desert first at Edwards AFB and later from Palmdale Plant 41. The aircraft was retired to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, AZ near Davis Montham AFB in early 2023. A great gift for any active or retried NASA, United, or Pan AM employee or any aviation or NASA enthusiast and avgeek alike. Information about the poster and shipping\printing process: Posters are made-to-order and printed at a large and reputable printing shop in PORTRAIT ORIENTATION using a deep matte format for the best quality. Posters are shipped via UPS\USPS Economy Ground shipping paid by the seller. The printing shop generally ships the posters within 4-5 business days of receiving the order, using UPS’s economy subsidiary UPS Mail Innovations Express, as the initial shipping provider. Shipping is then generally transferred to USPS for delivery once the package arrives in your local area. Tracking numbers are provided the day the item is shipped and may be tracked via their website here (note that they : https://www.ups-mi.net/packageID/ I will provide you with the UPS Mail Innovations Express tracking number, which will also be trackable via UPS and USPS, along with the estimated date of arrival once I receive that information. As this is economy shipping, and as the posters are printed to order, please expect up to 2 weeks for delivery! (Though about 8-12 days is the average time between purchase and delivery). If you wish to have shipping expedited, that may be arranged at the buyer’s expense.
