In 1949, he moved to San Diego and opened Tahiti Felix’s Master Tattoo & Museumwhere he worked until retirement in 1979. His clientele was mostly drawn from sailors who disembarked at the dock just a few blocks from his downtown shop at 317 F Street. Zeke Owen, a legendary tattooer who worked at The Pike in the 60s and was taught by his uncle – Ernie Sutton (of Sutton & Lewis), also worked at Felixs shop at one point.
