Two (2) rare antique lacquer tsuba, a Daisho set. Wooden core decorated with silver and gold makie lacquer. Decorated with two different Mons. This Daisho was never meant to be mounted, they were made as a presentation gift or possibly during the Meiji Period for export. Mid Edo Period to Meiji Period, 1750-1912. Good condition- both have some minor abrasions. Katana tsuba has a few small cracks in lacquer (see picture #11). Wakizashi tsuba has one small chip on the nakago ana and two small chips around the hitsuana (see picture #12). Also has some tiny spots in the lacquer (see picture #12). All look much worse under the harsh photography lights. Hardly noticeable under regular light. Katana tsuba measures 3 1/4 inches by 2 7/8 inches and 1/4 inch thick. Nakago ana measures 1 inch by 1/4 inch. Wakizashi tsuba measures 2 7/8 inches by 2 5/8 inches and 1/4 inch thick. Nakago ana measures 7/8 inch by 1/4 inch.
