This is for a set of two cup and saucer sets from JC Penny in the SNOWFLAKE pattern featuring turquoise and grey snowflakes against a bright white background. Not sure of the vintage of this plate but the snowflakes look mid-century modern in feel, and the backstamp is not one that I am finding out there. I assume it is JC Penny–and this is also what Replacements.com thinks–not that they are right about everything. But, it is hard to see if the logo is JCP, or PJC or what! I am assuming JCP because Penny’s used those initials for so long, but I recognize it could just as easily be an overseas copycat. I don’t see many examples of vintage Fine China from JCP–earthenware seemed to be more their speed in past decades–at least in what is being resold today. ANYWAY, if you are looking to fill in your current collection, I admire your choice in fine china because this is a super cool pattern! I love the atomic space age feel of the snowflake graphic. Turquoise was a huge color in the 1950’s-1960’s. The silver rim completes the look of playful elegance. I also currently have dinner plates and berry bowls in this pattern. Condition on these two cup and saucer sets is very good with no cracks or chips. No excessive wear to the plate surface or the silver rims. These appear to have been gently used over the decades! Ready to fit in with your current collection of Snowflake or mixed in with your current MCM fine china patterns!
