DESCRIPTION: Traditional Scandinavian carved and bent wood storage box with lid (Norwegian tine box or Swedish Svepask). I believe this one is Swedish, but I am not certain – there is some writing on the bottom and the date 1968. The box has a natural wood finish without paint or varnish. It is constructed of 9 staves that are bound with 3 bentwood twigs that wrap around the box and secure the staves. The lid is also a bit unusual – it has the traditional tab that fits into the handle on one side, and a removeable peg that locks the lid into the handle on the other side. The box is oval in shape and measures approximately 5″ x 6″ by 5″ tall. Excellent condition.
