This listing is for a real deal authentically vintage alligator / caiman powder compact marked from Argentina. This item is from an estate of a woman who worked for Pan Am Airlines from the mid 1950s to the mid 1980s and traveled EXTENSIVELY. This caiman on this compact is on the top and the bottom. The edges have a gold tone metal. The hinge on the back extends the entire length of the item. The compact opens with a coin purse style kiss clasp. The lid of the compact has a mirror that is held in place by rust colored leather corners. The opposite side of the interior has a rust color leather covered insert with a tab to pull it open. Under this cover, the compact has a cover and sifter for loose powder. Under the sifter the interior of the compact is marked, “E. 14434 – CAIMAN. INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA. N1010.” We believe this compact is from the 1950s. The item measures 2 3/8” wide by 2 3/4” tall by 3/8” deep. Please see all photos to supplement this description.
