Nell Walker Warner Oil Painting “Blue Bells and Pink Daisies” Mid 20th Century. A breathtaking still life by Nell Gertrude Walker Warner (1891 – 1970) titled “Blue Bells and Pink Daisies”. This post-impressionist still life, an oil on canvas, was painted mid-20th century. Artist’s full signature to lower left. Walker Warner was a master of the floral still life and plein air paintings of California landscapes. She is well sought after. A piece by Walker Warner is a must in any California collection. 35.5 x 29 x 1.25” with frame 29.5 x 23.5” artwork The artwork is housed in a silver frame that has some significant wear to it. I’ve left the artwork in the frame as protection while storing it; Buyer will most definitely want to purchase their own framing. The correct frame is sure to bring this artwork to the next level, as the current housing does nothing to support the historical nature of this work, nor does it show the artwork well. Canvas has a two inch tear which is near impossible to view from the front of the canvas. It can be found by looking on the back of the canvas, above the top stretcher bar, in the mid top of the artwork. Thankfully, it’s found in an area of dark paint, which acts as camouflage. While the tear should be repaired to support the long-term conservation of this piece, it is not required if someone plans to enjoy this work for a few years before selling on. You really can’t see it when viewing the artwork. This artwork is offered at a significant discount given the tear . PLEASE NOTE: This artwork is a prime example of the importance of properly preparing an artwork for shipping—this piece was damaged in transit on its way to me because it was no where near properly packed. I have a collection of varied vintage pieces of unique sizes and shapes. The pieces I sell cannot be replaced. The reason I do not ship same day, or even next (without prior approval) is because it takes time to prepare art for transit. These are not widgets. There are no boxes in a warehouse for me to grab and quickly wrap your new piece. I have to hunt down an appropriate box, or, I have to custom build one. Dependent upon the size of the artwork, its fragility, and the anticipated length of transit, I may need to build a cage, as well. With proper preparation, I have yet to lose a piece. These things need to be packed to withstand repeated throwing, repeated box punctures, wet weather, and more. So, please give me the time I need to prepare your artwork for its trip to you, and you will be rewarded with a beautiful piece to enjoy for years to come.
