Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice and hard to find University Sound 5020 model “super” cardioid dynamic microphone from the 1960’s which was actually manufactured in Italy. This microphone was sold for just a few short years and is a very high quality handheld mic with an outstanding tone and resembles in many ways the modern stick mics of today except as you can see it has a very mid century vibe. It comes with the mic clip, cable and mic case shown. This 5020 has a solid feel and has a bit of weight to it. Appx 7 inches long X 2 1/2 inch across at the globe. It has an all metal design with a gorgeous satin chrome finish. Again, this mic is low Z with a nice amount of bass and just sounds really warm. This is only the 3rd example I have come across and it’s a very nice example. It works perfectly with 100% output. As you can see the mic shows almost no wear. Just a tiny bit of pitting on the bezel of the globe. Otherwise, perfect. No scratches, dents or engravings. The globe is also free of dents and there are no odors. The inner cloth pop filter is perfect as well. The mic takes the older 3 pin type screw on cable (same as the Shure 55S and 55). The cable is soft, pliable and 16 feet long giving you plenty of room to work with. It’s free of any physical damage and has the quality Switchcraft male XLR end connector which is balanced as well. The mic clip is also metal with a satin chrome finish and fits the mic perfectly. It will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have and gives a wide degree of tilt up and down. Tension is adjustable via side screw. Last but not least is the beautiful vintage vinyl case which is included. This case has a practical carrying handle and locking lid mechanism. It shows just lite physical wear. Two new foam pads were installed to keeps the dust, dirt and scratches away. The case is appx 13 inches long X 5 1/2 inches deep X 3 inches tall. She’ll do an excellent job of protecting this valuable older mic. If you want a very high quality mic to use daily that will draw plenty of attention then this Italian design will do the trick.
